How to make Glitter Christmas Cards in less than 5 minutes

By the time you the time it takes you to finish reading this post, you will have been able to have made this card. Possibly more. Every year I make Christmas cards and every year I try to think of something easy. Sometimes that works out. Other times I pull back muscles.

This year? These glitter Christmas cards, they take 5 minutes to make. Did I mention easy? Yes I used glitter. I hate glitter. But in this case, it really works.

Here is what you’ll need:

• Fine Glitter in the color of your choice (not the bigger flaked glitter, it must be fine or extra fine glitter)
• Mod Podge Matte (it dries clear)
• Paint Brushes
• Black card stock (don’t use regular paper, you need thick card stock)
• Paper towels or garbage bags to put under your card stock as you do this craft

Step One

Paint a Christmas tree (or Holiday symbol of your choice) onto your card stock using Mod Podge.

The “whispier” your tree ends the better. I found that using a smaller paint brush helped me do this better.

Step 2

Coat your tree with glitter to cover it while it’s still wet. Mod Podge dries fast and clear so get on it.

Step 3

Shake off excess glitter.

Step 4

You’re done. No really.

Here’s an extra little cheat step – if you find you’re not happy with where your glitter landed for your whispy Christmas tree or your star isn’t as defined as you want, use the end of your paint brush to gentle scrape off the glitter the places you prefer more definition.

I’ve used glitter glue and glitter paint before and for some reason, it doesn’t have the same non-chalant, “I am an artist” feeling as pouring actual glitter on the Mod Podge.

You can use regular glue to make these (we did a Mother’s Day Glitter card craft here using regular glue) but I find the Mod Podge helps the card stock not become all warped. Regular glue on the other hand does.

I spent more time styling and editing the upcoming photos than I did making all these cards.

While the above look like fancy grown up cards (seriously I am obsessed with gold lately and if you know me well, that means the apocalypse is coming) my daughter made some of her own for her teachers this year.

See? EASY.

I have however been banned from showing her cards on here as to not ruin the surprise. I tried to reassure her that her teacher’s do not read my blog. She did not believe me.
