FAQ/Site Policies

Copyright Policy

If you’d like use a photo or editorial content from my blog, you may use ONE photo and you must link back and give credit under my blog name with a follow link.

If you’re unsure and would like extra clarification,  you can reach me at: “northstory @ rogers.com”. I am flattered that you like anything I’ve made and want to share it with your audience.

The rest, take note.

The following ways of using my images/content is NOT permitted:

  • Collages made from the steps of my tutorials to appear as “one” photo are not allowed nor are they allowed to be Pinned on Pinterest as one photo.
  • Pinning an image from my blog that leads to your site.
  • Sharing a photo of my project (collage or otherwise) on any form of social media and linking to your own site instead of mine.
  • Photos being altered in any way nor should any additional text or your own graphics be added to my photographs. This is applies to all forms of social media including Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, etc.
  • Using a photo in a round up post with your own affiliate links, linking to products I have used in my photos.
  • Photos being used to advertise your business.
  • Crediting my blog name with an “@northstoryco” on the photo or a link to my blog under a generic word in a paragraph preceding or appearing after the photo. Proper credit means via @northstoryco in full, as a visible spelled out link.
  • Translating my tutorials in another language and using all the photos on your site.
  • Under no circumstances should entire entries (tutorials with photos & text) be copied and pasted.

No one likes to have their work stolen and you will be contacted to have it removed. If you do not remove it after you are contacted, I will be contacting Google and they will ask you to remove it. If Google isn’t enough, I will contact your website provider and your Ad provider to let them know you’re making money off of my work. Better yet, I’ll bring it up with my lawyer.

To it explain it in simple terms – why would anyone come to my site to see my tutorials or content, if it’s all on yours. It’s bad online blogging etiquette and flat out plagiarism and content theft/scraping.

Note: Photos of my children however are not allowed to be used . This includes round up posts.

Guest Posts

I currently do not accept Guest posts and articles on my site.

Affiliate Links

From time to time I do use affiliate links in my blog posts. Affiliate links are links to stores that I will receive commission from should you purchase something from the store upon clicking the link. I only link up to sites I trust and products that I actually endorse and use.

Sponsored Posts and Product Reviews

Sponsored posts are collaborative posts between myself and a brand or company where I receive either product or financial compensation for writing a post. I always disclose Sponsored Posts at the end of the post.

Product Reviews are similar except that they are not always financially compensated and are often of my own accord (meaning I purchased it myself). If a product was given to me for a review however, I always disclose this within the text of the post or at the end of my post.
